What you need:

• Your Victorinox pocket knife (e.g. a 91 mm model).

• Your new Messerspezi handle scales.

• A cloth or a piece of wood.

• Perhaps a small, flat screwdriver or a knife.

Step 1: Disassembly

1. Preparation: Slightly open all the tools of your knife.

2. Removing the old scales: The handle scales are only clipped in. Use a piece of wood or a sturdy plastic spatula. Carefully insert the tool between the scale and the metal body at the edge of the knife.

3. Leverage: Gently push or pry the shell away from the knife. You will hear a slight cracking sound as the shell separates from the metal rivets. Work your way along bit by bit. Important: Be especially careful around the tweezer and toothpick notches.

4. Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the metal body of your knife of dust and dirt before fitting the new scales.

2. Snapping into place: Start at one side (for example, at the head end). Position the shell firmly and then press it down firmly and evenly against the remaining rivets. You should hear a distinct, satisfying "click" when the shell is perfectly snapped into place.

3. Check: Ensure the tray fits snugly and securely all around. The recesses for tweezers, toothpicks (and possibly a ballpoint pen) should also be easily accessible.

4. Repeat this process for the second side.
